Unter den Spieler sind neben College-Akteuren wie Wagner als auch Talente aus aller Welt wie Hartenstein und Mushidi, wobei für sie andere Kriterien gelten.
College-Akteure dürfen sich zwei Mal zum Draft anmelden und ihre Anmeldung anschließend bis zur Deadline am 12. Juni zurückziehen. Underclassmen müssen den NBA bis zum 24. Mai informieren, wenn sie ihren Namen aus der Verlosung nehmen möchten. Voraussetzung ist dabei, dass sie noch keinen Agenten angeheuert haben. Andernfalls dürften sie nicht mehr ans College zurückkehren.
Internationale Spieler können ihre Anmeldung bis 10 Tage vor dem Draft, der in diesem Jahr am 26. Juni stattfindet, zurückziehen.
